Another of Jane’s stories in her autobiography is that she married a man named Clinton Burke in Texas in 1885. ” Some researchers guess that they actually met later, perhaps in the fall of 1891. Even if the date of their meeting is unclear, Jane definitely was romantically linked with Burke, off and on, for some years. However, there is no evidence that they formally married.
