The peanuts would be made into peanut butter, peanut candy, or peanut oil.
They played baseball, climbed trees, and went fishing. The boys made many of their own toys. They made kites and flips, which are slingshots. To make flips the boys attached big rubber bands to forked sticks. They used rocks or corncobs for ammunition. After reading an article in Boys’ Life magazine, Jimmy and his friends made popguns out of rubber bands, clothespins, and wood. They spent hours throwing homemade spears or rolling the steel hoops that came with the wooden kegs used on the farm.
