HOBBIT FEET SLIPPERS : DESIGNED BY TONI CARR Hobbits are known for having big, hairy feet that protect them from the elements. They don’t even need shoes! Since, perhaps luckily, we don’t have hobbit feet, these hobbit feet house slippers will keep your toes nice and toasty with the bonus of not having to shave! When knit in the round, this pattern knits up very, very fast!

Divide sts as follows: Needle 1: 10 (12, 14) sts. Needle 2: 15 (17, 21) instep sts. Needle 3: 10 (12, 14) sts. DECREASE ROWS Row 1: Needle 1: Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Needle 2: Knit. Needle 3: K1, sl 1, k1, psso, knit to end. Row 2: Knit. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for 6 (7, 8) more times—23 (27, 33) sts. Measure your foot. Knit around to 1” (3 cm) before total foot length. Note: If you want the slippers to be big hobbit-feet sized, knit to full foot length before shaping toes. SHAPE TOES Row 1: Needle 1: Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1—3 (4, 5) sts.

FINISHING Weave in all ends. Felt the hat (see here). Once the hat is felted and shrunk to size, pinch the top to form the front and sides of the fedora and gently pull out the brim. Next, stuff the hat with paper or towels to hold its shape while drying. Note: The great thing about this hat is that you can make it fit your head. Measure your head, then take a piece of cardboard and cut it into a long strip about 3” wide and the length of the circumference of your head. While blocking (or drying your hat), place the strip of cardboard inside the hat.
